In My Head? Definitely!

Monday 1st March

This Jason Derulo track certainly is 'In My Head'. The 20 year old American's second UK single has reached number one in the Big Top 40 Show chart in its second week of release. I'll be honest, the song didn't really appeal when I first heard it compared to his debut single 'Whatcha Say' but I've since changed my mind. Elsewhere in the chart, the tune I'm coining 'Song of the moment', 'Starry Eyed' from Brit Award Critics Choice Winner Ellie Goulding was new at number 5, with the possibility of moving even higher up the chart next week. It's quite rare for almost everyone in the Quay Radio office to all be loving a record at the same time but I think it's safe to say Ellie's first major UK single is an exception.

Back to the Quay Radio playlist, and last week we had new additions from Beverley Knight with Chaka Khan, folk-rock group Mumford & Sons, some electro-R&B from Timbaland with Katy Perry and a tune exclusive to the evening show, the follow up to 'Tik Tok' from Kesha, the new record 'Blah Blah Blah' featuring the US band 3Oh!3.

My favourite new track right now, however, is 'Don't Tell Me That It's Over', the first single from the new album from Amy MacDonald. You may know this Scottish singer/songwriter from tunes 'Mr Rock and Roll', 'L.A.' or 'This Is The Life' or you may just be hearing of her now. I thought the first album 'This Is The Life' was fantastic and hope all the tracks on the new EP released next week, 'A Curious Thing' are as catchy as the lead single!

You can hear me on the Evening Show Monday - Thursday evenings between 7 and 10 o'clock, just about the only show staying where it is this week after our schedule re-jig. Be sure to catch another new addition (to the radio station, not the playlist though!) Adam Newstead, in the morning between 6 and 10am (a blatant plug I know, but he asked me to mention it!) whilst Hayley moves to daytimes. Feel free to contact any of us by using the form on the right hand side ... Bye for now! A
