Queen Elizabeth Country Park: Hampshire’s largest country park with 20 miles of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. 1,400 acres of open access woodland and downland within East Hampshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. BBQ sites for hire, cafe for refreshments, gift shop, Tots play trails for 2-7 yr olds. Open daily.
Staunton Country Park: 1000 acres of landscaped parkland, the south coast’s largest glasshouses, an ornamental farm (home to pigs, goats, peacocks, llamas and even a shire horse!). Open 10am – 5pm except Christmas day.
Gosport Discovery Centre: Combining the best of traditional libraries with an exciting world of fun, learning and leisure. 4 Floors of books, reference material, art, local history, museum exhibits, film, music and events and even a coffee shop. Conference room and IT learning and Free internet access! Entry is free and open Mon-Fri 9.30am-7pm Sat 9.30am -4.30pm.
Titchfield Haven: Enjoy the natural beauty of this national nature reserve, in rare unspoilt landscape with a network of boardwalks and paths. A visitor centre, open Weds-Sun and Bank Holidays from 9.30-5pm in summer. 369 acres of lower meon valley to explore a variety of wetland habitats containing a wealth of wildlife.
Havant Museum: Telling the story of the Borough of Havant from ancient times to the present day. Displays include glimpse of how people worked and played over the last century, as well as the internationally famous Vokes Collection of Sporting Firearms. Varied exhibitions ensure there’s always something new to see. Open Tue-Sat 10am-5pm. Free entry.
SEARCH: Hands on centre for history and natural sciences in Gosport. Exciting activity sessions for primary schools using real museum collections. Holiday workshops for families, interactive open days – all led by expert staff. Following close to the National Curriculum, SEARCH encourages learning through discovery.
Ashcroft Arts Centre: Offering a variety of professional theatre, music, film, comedy, dance and visual arts. Also exhibitions and arts workshops available for all ages. Open Mon-Fri 9.30am-5pm and any evening when an event is on.
Milestones Museum: Hampshire’s living history museum in Basingstoke – taking you back to Victorian times and the 1930’s. A network of streets with shops, a village green and even a pub await you! With a collection of real life artifacts, there’s a surprise around every corner of this open air museum! Open every day except Mondays, Christmas, Boxing and New Years Day. Tues-Sun 10-5pm including Bank Holidays.
