British Tourism Week in Gosport
Gosport TIC will be celebrating British Tourism Week on Satrday 20th March in The Falkland Gardens promoting Gosport and Attractions, we will be there from 11am till 2pm, giving out leaflets and flyers . There will be a Free Raffle "Pick up a Gosport Guide " and the centre will have 10% of Gifts and Publications on the day. Explosion Museum , 17th Century Village, Gosport Honey Man and The Hovercraft Museum will be joining us at the event.

This is a one off fundraising event to raise money towards new toys, equipment and furniture for the children at The Haven Nursery on Saturday 20th March 11am-4pm. The day consists of a talent competition for anyone to enter different acts to win a trophy engraved with 'Havens Biggest Star 2010'. If you would like to enter a talent the fee is £10. Havant Youth Sail Training Scheme Open Day
Havant Youth Sail Training Scheme Open Day, 20th March, 10am-4pm
HYSTS is a charity, supported by Hampshire County Council, Youth Clubs Hampshire and Isle Of Wight and the RYA, offering sailing to young people between the ages of 11 and 18 years for just £10 per day sail, which includes all sailing kit required. Sailing takes place at the weekends with six hour sessions(depending upon the tide and weather!) run by qualified Senior Instructors. You do not have to have sailed before as HYSTS has a range of sailing boats available to cater for all sailors, from beginners to those who are more advanced. In addition we have a fleet of powerboats in which safety cover is provided by our fully trained volunteers.
We also offer volunteer opportunities for over 18’s in everything from committee members to powerboat drivers, with full training given.
Our Open Day offers you the chance to find out more about HYSTS by seeing our boats and kit and talking to volunteers and members. We’ll also have some fun competitions for you to take part in!!
So, whether you are a young person wanting to sail or someone who has a few spare hours and wants to volunteer with HYSTS, why not come along to our Open Day and see what we can offer you?

EXPLORE THE GREAT OUTDOORS WITH A FREE GPS ORIENTEERING EVENT AT MANOR FARM COUNTRY PARK
Hampshire County Council is organising a free GPS treasure trail and activities day at Manor Farm Country Park, near Bursledon, on Sunday 21 March, 10am-4pm as part of its culture-all campaign.
Inspired by the current satellite orienteering craze of geocaching, two unique GPS treasure trails have been plotted in the Country Park at Manor Farm for families to uncover, using a handheld GPS device.
Setting off from the entrance of Manor Farm, families can choose an easy one mile course or a more challenging two and a half mile course to uncover. A briefing will first take place at the farm before you are let loose on the trail with your activity sheet and a free goodie bag awaits you on your return.
There will be an activities tent, just outside the farm entrance, where visitors can get cycling advice and enjoy activities such as a tabletop safari and wood turning demonstrations. Visitors will also be able to build life sized go-carts with staff from the QEII Activities Centre.
Experienced local guides will take visitors on 20 minute guided walks (leaving hourly from 11am-3pm) where they can admire the local features along the Cobbett Trail.

Havant & District Holiday Venture (HDHV) 30th birthday reunion party.
In celebration of Havant & District Holiday Venture (HDHV) 30th year a fundraising “birthday party” will be held on 27th March at Hayling Island Community Centre from 7pm. The committee welcome any past and present staff, children, volunteers or parents to come to the party as well as anyone else who is interested in the work HDHV does. HDHV Annual General Meeting will also be carried out at the beginning of the evening.
Havant & District Holiday Venture (HDHV) has been providing summer play activities for physically disabled children aged 6-18 years since 1980. The playscheme was originally founded by Ann Slay an outreach community worker at Havant College after she realised there no local provision for these children. Ann was assisted by a number of parents and founded what is now known as HDHV. These days HDHV is organised by a committee of 7 volunteers devoting their time and skills year round to arrange the summer fun.
HDHV was originally based at Havant College however was also be run from Front Lawn School and Trosnant Infant School, but is now based at Prospect School in Havant. The playscheme currently runs for 3 weeks during the summer holidays and provides a variety of activities both on and offsite. HDHV has taken children to London to ride the London eye, organised days out paintballing, skiing, as well as trips to local theme parks. Onsite the children enjoy art, music workshops, movie making and in 2009 even a visit from X Factor finalists Same Difference.
